Byron's surgery

On Friday morning after dropping Lilly and Ethan off with my friend Veronica we took Byron down to get his tonsils and adenoids taken out. It was a stressful day, because I knew that things could go wrong. But, it was comforting to know that Ethan got his out and he is doing better now that he doesn't have his tonsils. He doesn't get sick as much and when he does get sick, it's not so bad.
I had to sign a paper saying that I know the risks and the side affects were as bad as death. Then the anesthesiologist took him down the hall in the wagon. Byron was such a good sport about everything. I had to do everything I could not to run after them and say, "I change my mind, give me my little boy back we're leaving". But, Byron has had a lot of colds ever since he started public school and they last for weeks. Then a few weeks ago he had this nasal swollen thing where he could hardly breathe. So, I knew we had to do something.
Everything went well with the surgery. His doctor is great and really knows what he is doing. He took them out within like 15 minutes. The thing that took the longest was just waiting after the surgery. The had to monitor him after the Anesthesia. He threw up a bit and he also threw up on the way home. But, it was good because it got the gunk out of his system. I could type a lot more, but I won't. He has been in a lot of pain and doing better each day. We compared Byron's and Ethan's tonsils and they look like two little brains in each one. They make me gag. Why do we even have tonsils?

Spring is Here!

It is so nice to be having these warm temps. I love going outside with my kids and also my preschool kids. The winter seemed to drag on. I am ready to breath fresh air again. I have been watching the forecast and I guess it's suppose to get a little colder later in the week, I am going to enjoy it while I can.
We are going to plant grass around our trampoline this year, so I am putting my kids to work picking rock. We have a ton of rocks in our soil up here by the mountain.
I'm also really excited to plant in my box gardens again this year and maybe buy some flowers for my yard. Waawhoo!
I guess you could say I have Spring Fever Bad!
(That top pic was taken before the snow was melted. We were outside as soon as it was tolerable.)

Word to the wise

I talked to my Dad and he advised me to talk to a Medical Malpractice attorney. I called their office and they told me that there is a 2 year statute of limitation in Utah. So if it is longer than 2 years after the incident, it is too late. They also said that getting an epidural all together is a risk and it is a risk anyone takes by getting one. Those were a few things I didn't want to hear. I had a hard morning this morning and cried it all out.
My advice to anyone out there in Cyber world...if you're going to deliver a baby, don't do it at a small hospital. Go to a hospital where they do epidurals all the time and they are used to it. No matter how old the anesthesiologist is.
I'm going to try to not be bitter about the whole thing anymore. I want to save up for a better bed. I have looked into Temperpedic, Intilligel, and sleep number. Does any one have any input about what bed is the best one out there? Getting a good nights sleep is key to being able to function through out the day.
I also want to save up for a hot tub and try to go to the chiropractor more often (doing the spinal decompression).
I have thought about it a lot, why was this back injury supposed to happen to me? and What have I learned from it?
I wouldn't be doing my preschool if I didn't have a back injury. I would probably be pregnant right now.
We wouldn't be adopting either.
I can also sympathize with those who have back pain.
Again, Thanks for listening.

Time to Vent

My life is really good and I know I don't have much room to complain, but my back has been hurting me ever since the doctor put my epidural in wrong by hitting my bone in the process. The other day I called the director of the hospital to see if they could give me some type of compensation for all I have gone through and all the chiropractor bills I have paid. He told me I had to get proof from my doctor and tell him my story. So, that's what I did. Tonight I went down and got the mail. He typed me up this formal letter and toward the end he basically told me all this crap about how extra weight, or my pregnancies or poor posture could be another cause and there's no way to prove that what the doctor did caused it. It makes me so mad! I just want this pain to go away and have my pain free life back. He said I encourage you to go to your primary care physician or other health care professionals to help you manage the pain. I'm not one who likes to take medicine. That's how most doctors tell you to "manage" the pain. I want to get to the root of the problem.
I know that what the anesthesiologist did caused it, because that's when all the pain started, he knew he messed up, and when I touch the area it kills. Hospitals never want to take responsibility for their actions. Why can't they just be more sympathetic! I cried a lot tonight. I haven't cried because of my back for a while now. Thanks for listening, sorry for being a boob.
