My sister tagged me on her blog. I am supposed to type 25 things about me that I would like ya'll to know. Here are a few.
I was born the 5th child of 8. Being a middle child is great because I get to be in with the older kids growing up, once a got a bit older and the younger ones. My siblings are awesome and I am glad that my parents decided to have 8. I would complain every once in a while growing up, but now I love it. We do a conference call once a week and I look forward to talking with my siblings and my mom (my Dad comes on every once in a while).
When I was a little girl I passed out. I fell on the piano bench, then my mom pulled my thumb back. I was being rambunctious when her visiting teachers were there. She got so scared she called 911 and I got to ride in an ambulance. They said I was ending a virus. But, I passed out when I was about 13 after I hit my tailbone on the vaccum when I was wrestling with my brother. I don't think I was ending a virus when I was little. I think when I have certain pain, I hold my breath that leads me to pass out.
I moved to Rexburg when I was 12. It was such a hard transition for me. I went to having a ton of friends, to not having much. I wasn't totally accepted with the clicks up there until about 3 years later. I have always tried to be nice to everyone around me. I learned a lot from going to school, especially the social aspect of things. I ended up serving as the Student Body Treasurer my senior year. That was so much fun for me.
I tried out for cheerleader when I was in 7th grade. I was so nervous! I think that a ton of it has to do with who the judges know. To make a long story short, I didn't make it. It does also take skills and talent though. I love you Kate!
I think certain situations where everything doesn't go as planned or you get rejected in some form or another, is when I have grown the most in my life.
Growing up I "went out" with someone often. I wasn't a player or anything. It was just the thing to do is to go steady with someone. Some of my boyfriends included: Scott B., Wes E., Ian, Brady, and Brandon.
I have always tried to follow the standards the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Which I am a member of) and my parents have taught me. When I do something wrong the guilt nags at me until I make it right. I am definitely a people pleaser. When I was in junior high I told one of my guy friends a rumor that this girl was liking this one guy, he ended up going right to her boyfriend and telling him. It eventually got back to the girl. She was so ticked at me. She didn't forgive me forever. I would call her and plead for her forgiveness. She finally forgave me and ended up being one of my best friends in High School. That lesson taught me a lot though. Don't gossip.
I love summers! I had such a great time growing up with my siblings and friends. We would go bridge jumping often and were just outside a lot. I can still feel the fresh air of summers in Rexburg. Whenever we would sleep out though, we would wake up with frost on our sleeping bags. :)
I am pretty close to my Grandma. I love her to death. I would go clean her house when I was in High School. I have a place in my heart for her. It's really hard for me to not live by her, to help take care of her.
I am and always have been a babysitter. I love kids. They are the sweetest things on this earth. Growing up ever since I was 12 I have been babysitting, and now that I have kids of my own I still am asked to tend my friends kids. I pride myself on figuring out what makes them tick and how to entertain them. Children are so intricate and each one is so different.
I like things clean. I have always had a clean house. Even when I was younger my room would always be clean. I would clean my siblings rooms for them every once in a while for a surprise. When I was pregnant with Lilly I would have to lay around a lot. It was hard for me not to have a clean house. But, now having three kids, I realize I needn't be so uptight.
I love to cook. I first started cooking in 4-H when I was a kid. Then it just escalated from there. Then in college I had a hispanic boyfriend that encouraged me to cook as well. When I got married it really kicked off the cooking as well. I have just practiced and practiced. I just love to get new recipes. I love to cook for people and when they give me compliments on it, I just feel all warm inside. :)
I married a buff farm boy from Idaho. He has such a great personality and a great heart. When we met he was a yell leader at our college. We would do lifts and stuff. We loved going country dancing and doing the lifts. Like the candle stick. It has been great married to him.
I have had a few jobs in my day: I worked at a green house, as a maid, at Payless shoes, at HollyWood Video, at the Rexburg call center as a surveyor as well as a supervisor. I have babysat as well as sewn and crocheted things for money. I sew blessing dresses, which a haven't done in a few years. Now I work as my husbands Vice President. I do all the paperwork and payroll for that.
I do all the finances and pay the bills for our family. It has taught me a lot and empowered me as a women. I feel like I am pretty responsible and if I want something done I can go out and find what our family needs. Like insurance, utilities, doctors, etc. My husband makes all the money and I can't forget to give him credit on that one. :)
We lived in Arizona away from all our family and friends for 3 years. That was such a hard experience for me. When we first moved down there we moved from our apartment after a few months because of a drive by shooting right in front of our apartment. It was just Byron and me at home at the time and I called Wes first, then 911. I wanted to move back to Idaho and Utah after that so bad, but we tuffed it out for 2 1/2 more years. I learned a lot of independence down there. I had to. Wes was gone a lot. He went to work until 5:00 then he left to school and didn't come home until 11:30 at night. I felt like a single mom at times. The morning after Wes graduated....we moved up to Utah. :) But I met some great friends down there: Melissa, Sandy, and Marilyn. What's funny is none of them live in Arizona anymore. One lives in Vegas and two live in Utah.
My first baby was 9 pounds 15 oz. That was really hard, he was huge and he wasn't a c section. My other two were average because they were both 2 weeks early on purpose.
When I had my last baby I insisted on having her at a small hospital because in Arizona they were very impersonal. To make a long story short, the anesthesiologist messed up on my epideral, he said he kept hitting bone. The first night I got home from the hospital I was in so much pain I was on the verge of passing out. I would just cry and couldn't even hold Lilly. We called the hospital and they told us we would have to check back in through the emergency room if we came back. We decided not to. I have never been the same ever since my injury. I have had so much pain. I have had piercing pain, burning pain, light headedness, etc. But, I am so much better now than I was at first. I just feel bad because Lillies life has been such a blurr because of having so much pain in my back. I would cry a lot because of the pain and also of the anger and I went over it over and over. Thinking, "what could have I done different?" If I just would have done this or that. But, I have learned a lot through my trials in life. I have learned that sometimes bad things happen to good people. That we were put here on this earth the prove ourselves through our trials and everything happens for a reason.
We want to adopt. We don't feel secure in the idea of us having another biological child, because of my back, my vericose veins (who aren't as bad as a lot of peoples, I know), and of course having miscarriages before Lillian. We feel like we want to raise at least one more. We feel like we have been inspired to adopt. The only problem...It's 30,000 dollars. The Lord will provide when the time is right. We just have to do our part by being smart with our money.
I am very frugal and thrifty. I always look for a good deal and we watch our spending. If we can buy what we need at a cheaper store like D.I. we will, just to save a buck.
We recycle. We have been recycling for probably 2 years now. We have boxes set out in our garage for plastic, card board, paper, metal cans, and pop cans. It takes us a while to fill our black dumpster now, because of our recycling.
I am doing a preschool out of my home this fall. I'm so excited. Like I said, I love kids. I have my tables, chairs, lessons, etc. ready to go. I have had a lot of kids sign up. It will help to bring in extra income and satisfy my need to visually contribute to society, even more than I am now.
I love being a stay at home. I just couldn't bring myself to bringing my kids to day care. I know that there are those who have to and don't have a choice. I just feel so blessed I can raise my kids full time.
I play church sports. I have played church sports ever since young womens. My family laughs because whenever they would come and watch they would tell me to "shoot" and I would be half court and just chuck it. I would be so ticked at them, even though I was the one who messed up.
I played soccer. I have never been on a winning team, but have had great fun being on soccer teams. When I was 12 I was on a team called "The pink flamingos". We made up our own name. :)
I don't have a whole lot of free time, but when I do I like to blog!
It's funny how when I started this I thought, "How can I come up with 25 things?" I just thought of a few more things.
I forgot to mention my appearance: I have red hair (its a rare gene our our family, I am the only sibling that has it out of all 8 of us, I had braces for 3 1/2 years and my teeth still aren't perfect, I'm really sensitive (My sight is great, I hear great, my taste and smell is really good and I am very sensitive to people's feelings,) I have been the same size since 7th grade (since I have had kids I am a bit taller and about 8-10 pounds heavier). There is a lot more about me you might not Know, that's why you guys need to stop by more. :)
I tag all of you who are reading this :)
