Didn't see this coming

We had been having light snow off and on for a few days and then yesterday we were hit hard. We got like a foot and a half of snow in one day. It was bazaar. Wes shoveled for almost and hour and a half. There was no way I was going to shovel with my bad back. I shoveled a bit today and ya I'm feeling it. I'm so ready for spring it's not even funny! I feel cooped up.

white chocolate grapes

The other day I was watching this show and they showed this treat this lady likes to make with her kids. It's just white chocolate dipped grapes. I just put white chocolate chips in the microwave for a minute (stirring at about 30 seconds). Then I got a little crazy and dipped strawberries. Then I did butterscotch chips too. Yummy!

What to do, what to do

I always need to put myself in check when it comes to spending quality time with my kids. Sure I can take care of them, feed them meals and make sure their needs are met, but they are happiest when I give quality time to each one. It's hard to just sit down with each one and play. There is always so much to be done.
My friend Veronica and I were talking the other day and I told her I would email her some ideas of what activities to do with kids. I found a few things, but this morning I wrote down some things that I do with my kids. Just simple things. Here they are:
Play dough, paint a printed off picture from the internet with water color paints, play school (we do the pledge, weather, calendar, reading, alphabet song, etc.), read books, play with guys (little plastic toys), draw with the dry erase markers on the white board, watch educational movies (like sesame street & blues clues, you can find cheap $1 movies at the D.I.), put corn meal on a cookie sheet and run toy cars through it or use utensils or your finger to make designs, build a fort with blankets and furniture, make necklaces out of cereal & yarn, Dance to children songs on CD, play educational computer games like PBSkids, play with plastic cups(we reuse our yogurt cups)stack and knock down or can do bowling with a ball and the cups, play pass with the ball (sit on the floor open your legs to the splits and pass), play dress ups (I bought all kinds of hats and stuff at the D.I.).
Those are just a few things we do. Hope this helps.

Class Valentines

Byron's teacher just sent home a list of his class members to make Valentines for. We have been limiting our trips to the store to every 3-4 weeks (unless we are in town for some reason), so I have to get creative. I went online and printed some free ones off, we will put them in small regular card envelopes, and I went to our local convenient store and bought individually wrapped candies for each kid. Isn't the internet great?

15 seconds of fame

It went really well today on TV. I was so nervous I would say something stupid. Here is the little clip.

I'm going to be on TV!

Today I was watching KSL 5 at 11:00 and they said to submit your favorite chocolate recipe. So I submitted my favorite homemade chocolate pudding recipe:
Chocolate Pudding

¼ C. sugar 2 C. milk (I like to use evaporated)
¼ tsp. salt 2 egg yolks, beaten
2 Tbsp. cornstarch 2 Tbsp. butter
1 Tbsp. flour 1 tsp. vanilla
2 Tbsp. cocoa

Mix sugar, salt, cornstarch, flour, and cocoa in a pot. Turn the heat on to medium heat and stir in milk and eggs with a whisk. Boil 2 minutes or until thick consistency. Stir constantly. Remove from heat. Stir in butter and vanilla. Cool. Can serve warm or cold. I like to top with whip cream. Yummy! This is a family favorite. We have it at least once a month.

Submitted by: Becky Jones
Recipe by Kathy Jones (my mother in law)

I got a call today and they told me I will be on TV tomorrow (Feb 4th) at 11:30 on channel 5. I am excited. I have been on TV a few times in my life. One time when we were on Family Focus on Channel 2 in the early 90's and also when I was in elementary school to do this poem about clouds or something. I'm nervous I will say the wrong thing or something. But, watch and you will hear my voice and see my pic.

Time away

On Friday Wes and I went on a little excursion without the kids. Wes's mom came and watched them. She is so good with the kids.
We started off by going to the temple. Which was so nice to go together. With Lilly still being so young we usually just go individually.
Then we went to the Solomon center in Ogden. (Each thing we did was a surprise to Wes). We flew at the Ifly place. We got lunch next at the Sanora Grill across the street. Then we rock climbed. I got higher than Wes got so I'm pretty proud of that. It's a lot harder than it looks. We had done a bit before, but not much. Then we checked in Early to the Alaskan in up Ogden canyon. They are these little individual cabins. We had a blast! They had a complimentary sparkling cider and cookies that we ate right when we got there. Then we waited a bit and had a Limo pick us up and take us to dinner at the Timbermine Steak and Seafood. Their steaks were the best I have ever had, yum! Then we drove around a little bit more in the Limo, it was nice to talk and just be together. Then we went back to our cabin and watched a movie and vegged. It was hard to get back to reality on Saturday, but we missed our kids and it was good to see them again. (We don't get out much, can you tell?) I recommend this date to everyone. We had such a great time.
